Ocean Explorers Society

About the Ocean Explorers Society

We are a group of active divers who dive, socialize, and learn together. Except for the months of August and December, we hold meetings on the first Thursday of the month at Ocean Enterprises on Balboa St. Our meetings generally feature a speaker, news of local and club events, and a raffle of diving equipment. Once or twice a year, we hold a parties instead of meetings.

OES membership spans the full range of ages and experience; from freshly certified to divemaster. We do tend toward more experienced and trained divers. 50% of our members are Rescue certified or better. All experience levels are welcome. We are safety oriented and generally able to tailor our diving to everyone's experience and comfort level.

This is not a large club where you will get lost among hundreds of people. Come diving with us, and you will be diving among friends. You will also find that we lack the macho attitude which can sometimes be found elsewhere. You can dive to your comfort level without feeling self conscious.

We try to organize one beach dive and one boat dive per month. During the summer, we charter day boats, like the Lois Ann and visit the less frequented local sites. The club also participates in underwater clean-ups, and other community activities.

We organize at least one major, way out of town, dive trip per year. By grouping our travel, we qualify for discounts not normally available to the public. OES has organized trips to Grand Cayman, Palau, Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Turkois, Grand Bahama and Cozumel.

We offer numerous benefits to our members:
